U.S. President Barack Obama's firstborn daughter, Malia, will be off to college next year so she made the rounds of university campuses over the weekend.
The president mentioned his 16-year-old wanted to be a filmmaker. In summer last year, she toured two top northern California university rivals with film courses --- the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford University.

First Lady Michelle Obama and Malia were in New York City on Friday to take private tours around several universities. They checked Barnard College, New York University and the president's alma mater, Columbia University.
Is she under a lot of pressure to take after her father?
Malia is attending the exclusive Sidwell Friends School in the U.S. capital where she is expected to finish in 2016. This means she will be a university freshman about the time her father's second presidential term ends.
President Obama is already preparing for his first child's departure, quipping in a graduation address that he needs to keep his cool, "not choking and crying and embarrassing her" when she does leave for college.
David Hawkins of the National Association for College Admission Counseling said the president's daughter is no doubt a well-qualified and bright student, because the apple does not fall far from the tree.
Columbia is not a long shot at all as Malia is a "desirable" candidate for any college, Hawkins said. Besides her academic credentials, her security has to be considered. Even her college-hunting tours could be politically sensitive, so they would not be seen as endorsements.
What makes Malia different from other "first children" is the fact that she grew right before the American public since she was ten. Chelsea Clinton went to college while former president Bill Clinton was in office, same thing for the Bush twins, Jenna and Barbara.
