Chinese “Lust Caution” actress Tang Wei is tying the knot with top Korean director Kim Tae-Yong and the union has been set this fall.
The engagement was announced in a statement released by the couple through Kim’s agency, Born Film Production.
Tang, 34, and Kim, 44, met on the set of the 2010 romantic drama, “Late Autumn.” Although Tang was just one of the artists that Kim was directing, they had forged a great friendship, according to Korea Herald.

“We got to know each other through cinema and we came to understand each other. We became friends and lovers,” began the filmmaker in the statement.
But the couple is aware of the challenges ahead of them, including the language barrier, noted Korea Herald in a separate report.
“Now we would like to become husband and wife, even if that means learning each other’s hard languages. But we know that this hardship will become the happiest moments, where we will learn to understand deeply and respect each other. Most of all, the movie is the most important witness to our relationship,” the couple noted in the statement.
The couple began seeing each other romantically in October 2013 and they confirmed having a low-key wedding in the fall, said Channel News Asia. Tang’s camp also vehemently denied pregnancy rumors swirling around in the world wide web.
Tang's representative belied rumors that the actress was pregnant saying “as far as I know, Tang Wei isn’t pregnant and will not be reducing her workload,” added Channel News Asia.
Tang rose to international fame when she appeared in Ang Lee’s thriller, “Lust Caution.” The Chinese actress had more projects on television before she entered the big screen in the thriller film that featured her in explicit sex scenes with Hong Kong film legend Tony Leung Chiu-Wai.
Kim, for his part, is best known for his work in the 1999 horror, “Memento Mori,” and “Late Autumn.” The Korean director has been described as the darling of critics for his work.
