Las Vegas Mother Searched for Suspect’s Car Before Being Shot: Police

A Las Vegas mother of four, who was killed after an apparent road rage shooting, went looking for her attacker before she was gunned down, a police investigator said.

Tammy Meyers, a former California nurse, was teaching her 14-year-old daughter how to drive in a school parking space. They were driving back home when they nearly ran into another vehicle on Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.

After arguing with the other car's driver, Meyers went home and told her daughter to go into the house and have her brother get in the car. The victim's son Brandon, 22, carried a registered handgun with him.

A homicide detective said the victim and her attacker found each other and, at one point, Meyers was following the suspect's car. At another point, they broke apart and the victim went home, police said.

After Meyers got to her house a second time, a gray or silver sedan drove by and several shots were fired at the victim.

A bullet hit Meyers in the head and she was treated at University Medical Center. The victim died after she was taken off life support on Saturday night, her family said in a media briefing.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas police are still searching for the gunman. A spokeswoman of Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Laura Meltzer, said authorities are doing everything in their power to find the suspect.

Las Vegas police came out with a sketch of the suspect, who was shown as a 1.8 meter, 80-kilogram blond white man who may be in his mid-20's.

Witnesses said the suspect's car was described was a four-door gray sedan with the front of the driver's side possibly damaged. Investigators publicly posted surveillance footage of the suspect's car about the same time they released a sketch of his likeness.

Meyers' husband, Robert, said his son came out of their house and fired multiple shots with a handgun at the suspect's car. He said there were three people inside the vehicle.

The victim's husband told police at least one 9-mm bullet, shot by his son, hit the fleeing vehicle. He called for the suspect and his accomplices to surrender to authorities.
