The majestic Niagara Falls has long been a tourist drawer. On Wednesday, the falls drew large crowds because part of it was frozen as temperature plummeted to minus 13 degrees last Monday.
Although the temperature had risen to 16 degrees by Wednesday, part of the falls on the U.S. side was still frozen, showing its majestic, winter splendor, said a spokeswoman for the park that oversees the falls.

The New York Daily News reports that the water is not frozen solid, but ice sheets have built up because of the lower temperature.
The unique look of the falls became an opportunity for visitors to take snapshots of the natural wonder.
The partially frozen falls, it seems, has its own charms and attracts a lot of visitors when it is in that state.
In 2014, the park received more visitors the day the fall was partially frozen compared to other cold days, reports USA Today.
It is impossible for Niagara Falls to completely freeze because of the volume and speed of the water that passes through it.
But the ensuing mist that is created by the rushing water could freeze into sheets of ice at winter.
When combined with the frozen slush that flows from Lake Eerie, it creates an illusion of a frozen lake, explains Business Insider.
Meanwhile, to indicate how cold the temperature in the area is, a 47-year-old woman had froze to death Saturday night.
Niagara Falls Police Chief of Detectives Capt. William Thomson heardreceived a call from a woman named Octavia Wilson, who was a few steps away from her home, seeking help on Saturday night, Buffalo News reports.
Wilson, 47, went out on a date with her boyfriend and he dropped her off. She apparently was outside her house in subzero temperature since Saturday.
Her frozen dead body was discovered in the next-door yard on Tuesday night by her family with no obvious signs of trauma.
She had a drink during her date and was reported missing on Monday. Thomson said it was hard to understand her recorded call because she was obviously shivering.
