As Kevin Garnett returns to the Minnesota Timberwolves, his goal of bringing a championship home has not changed.

However, what he may not be able to achieve as a 38-year old player may be achievable this time as an owner.

Last Tuesday, Garnett was re-introduced back into the Timberwolves' fold. This was four days after a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. It had been eight years since he had left the team.

Garnett commented that he was now in it for the long haul. He hopes that one day he can own the Timberwolves and bring them to the higher echelons of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Born in South Carolina, Garnett's talent blossomed in the Chicago area at Farragut Academy. However, he considers Minnesota to forever be his home.

When he graduated high school in 1995, Garnett was immediately drafted by the Timberwolves, at a time when coming out of high school to play in the NBA was not the trend as of yet.

He played for the Timberwolves squad for 12 years before heading to the Boston Celtics in a 2007 trade. After winning a championship with the Celtics, he dedicated that win to Minnesota.

In an interview last Tuesday, he said that if he had any regrets in his illustrious 19-year career, it was that he wasn't able to bring a title to the Timberwolves, and also a revamped sports market that has long suffered with the misfortunes of the team.

He also added that he was hoping to purchase the time in a few years.

Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is not averse to the idea. In fact he isn't even hostile to it, as he has been looking to unload the team for the right offer.

His time as a player for the Timberwolves though has not yet come to end. He is now expected to act as a mentor to a number of up and coming players.
