Nokia CEO Argues Against Wireless Net Neutrality

(Photo : Reuters) Another wireless executive has come out against net neutrality.
Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri has come out in protest of the recent U.S. Federal Communications Commission proposal to ban paid prioritization and reclassify broadband and wireless companies under Title II 'common carrier' utility services.
The reclassification comes in the face of potential lawsuits from AT&T, Comcast and other companies with goals aligned on paid prioritization of internet content and the ability to throttle networks.

Broadband and wireless providers aren't the only ones arguing against net neutrality. Broadcast.com creator and Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban claim the proposed FCC bill is a terrible idea that would stifle innovation.
Nokia's Suri gave some information as to why net neutrality is bad for business, claiming in the next few years investments in online health and self-driving cars would be a higher priority than simple web browsing.
This is the same argument made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on net neutrality, claiming prioritization should be offered to technical services. The counter argument made by consumer advocates is broadband companies will simply slow the normal lane, rather than make the priority lane faster.
Nokia is obviously in a position that would like to have wireless companies happy considering a large part of the business is networking and enterprise patents.
Suri has been visiting Mobile World Congress to discuss the huge profit spikes ever since Nokia sold its mobile branch to Microsoft, and future developments including its new tablet.
