Apart from focusing on eradicating the corruption in the government and system, Chinese President Xi Jinping is now spearheading a new campaign to better the country's soccer skills in the world stage.
For a number of years, the international soccer teams of China have not been a source of pride for the country. In fact, they have been the opposite, creating moments of embarrassment.

This has spurred Xi to approve a plan last Friday to boost the soccer skills of China. The plan was approved with China's central reform group, which Xi heads.
According a statement issued by the central reform group, they said that they must develop and support soccer in order to ensure that the country is one that is strong in sports. They also add that the improvement of the country's soccer skills is also a desire of the citizens as well.
Despite being successfully in many other sports, the Chinese international soccer team has been found wanting several times in the face of elite competition. The squad had qualified for the World Cup once, in 2002, but was soon eliminated without scoring a single goal.
Since then, the team has met with loss after loss even after hiring expert help in the form of world-class coaches like Bobby Houghton and ex-Real Madrid manager Jose Antonio Camacho.
The most recent loss of China was a 5-1 beating at the hands of the Thailand team in the Under 23 tournament.
Xi has not kept neither his enthusiasm for soccer nor his disdain for his team's lack of skills a secret.
In 2011, he stated his personal goals for China. He listed three that were all about soccer namely: to qualify once more for the World Cup, to host the World Cup, and to someday win it.
Part of the actions China will be taking is in implementing a "grassroots" problem that will train children in Soccer when they are still young.
