Apple is preparing to launch the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display in the upcoming quarter, alongside new 11 and 13-inch models with the display upgrade.

The mass production will start late, according to The Verge. This means Apple will be focused on bringing manufacturing up to speed for the first few months, resulting in a lack of stock.

The said product is the first major redesign of the MacBook Air for a while. Moreover, Apple is reportedly removing some of the key ports on the notebook, in favor of a slimmer design, the report detailed.

As part of the changes done, one plug will be used as both a charging and USB receiver, allowing Apple only one port on the entire machine. The current design removed several features like an Ethernet port and CD tray a few years ago, alienating a few users.

The tech giant has always been striving to make the MacBook Air as thin and light as possible, and this is a continuation on the redesign. The MacBook Pro will most likely serve as the bulky option for people who want to use more than one USB plug, the report explained.

Speaking of the MacBook Pro, the release date for the new iteration has been cited for the second-half of 2015. Reports, however, have not detailed any meaningful upgrades on the 2015 edition of the MacBook Pro.

Apple will also be expanding its iPad and iPhone range, launching the iPad Pro and iPhone 6S Mini in 2015, according to the report.
