Hunter Pence, right fielder of the San Francisco Giants, is injured with a fractured left arm. He is projected to be out for six to eight weeks.

Pence was injured during the Giants' game against the Chicago Cubs in the Cactus League. Despite winning the game 8-6, Pence's arm was fractured by a pitch.

As per SFgate.com, "X-rays confirmed the medical staff's diagnosis of a nondisplaced fracture of the ulna just above the wrist, a difficult blow for the Giants even early in spring training."

Manager Bruce Bochy commented "you really hate to see something unfortunate like that unfold". He also adds that Pence works so hard and is a shame the injury happened during the second game.

The best case scenario that Pence could face is that he would miss the first two weeks of the regular season which will begin in one month. This would end the longest current streak of games played in the majors at 383 games.

The impressive streak began three years ago in 2012.

After being hit by Corey Black's pitch, Pence immediately left the game at Scottsdale Stadium in the middle of the sixth inning.

When the ball cracked into his arm, Pence fell to the ground and stayed down for several seconds before jogging on to first base. Once there, he was met by trainers and guided towards the clubhouse.

When manager Bochy was asked how Pence's injury would affect the lineup of the Giants, he said he would continue to play his collection of outfielders.

He gave names such Norichika Aoki, Gregor Blanco, Juan Perez, and Justin Maxwell as outfielders who will be hitting the field.

Aoki and Maxwell both came from the Royals and joined with the Giants this offseason. Maxwell and Perez are regular outfielders.

The four players are currently contending for some playing time. Pence's injury opens a window of opportunity for one lucky player.
