iPhone 6S will Feature First 'Apple-SIM'

The Apple SIM could be featured on the iPhone 6S after its official launch on the iPad Air 2 last year. The SIM allows customers to swap between AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile in the U.S. and isn't locked to one specific carrier.
Apple played down the idea of the SIM on an iPhone last year due to the majority of customers buying iPhones directly from carriers rather than from Apple stores.

This year could be the year, however, and installing an Apple SIM may allow the company to completely lock the device, leaving no room for removable parts.
Apple has a hatred from anything to do with ports and the SIM card has always been one feature it would love to remove from the equation. Having an Apple SIM allows the customer to swap carriers without swapping SIMs.
That said, the iPhone 6S is bound to offer a SIM slot since most customers will still order directly from U.S. carriers. Verizon Wireless is also not supporting the new SIM card, meaning the largest carrier in the U.S. needs to be considered.
The iPhone 6S will launch alongside the 6S Plus and 6S Mini, the trio of smartphones by Apple for 2015. After the 74 million iPhones sold in Q1 2015, the sales estimates for Apple's next first quarter are huge, potentially over 100 million sales in a quarter.
