Apple has been inviting esteemed developers to its headquarters in Cupertino for a few weeks of hard optimization for Apple Watch apps before the April release date.
Facebook, United Airlines, BMW and other developers are currently fine-tuning the smartwatch apps. Apple is clearly concerned the early adoption rate will fall if the Apple Watch is not chock-full of well optimized apps.

It's interesting United Airlines and BMW are at the major app developers meeting with Apple since most smartwatches focus on notifications and fitness. Apple CEO Tim Cook did say the Apple Watch would replace a user's car keys.
United Airlines will be working on its NFC ticket recognition that will allow passengers to pass through boarding with the Apple Watch. This service is already available on the iPhone and several Android devices.
Apple is working hard on its own services for the Apple Watch as well. These services include the Health app which will play a prominent part in the ecosystem, according to Tim Cook.
The health app will feature rewards for users that exceed fitness goals but Cook didn't confirm if these were monetary goals or badges to show off to friends.
All shall be revealed at the Apple Watch event on March 9 where Apple will unveil all of the new features and partners it has accumulated over the past six months.
