Make way for the hype train chugging along led by none other than boxing superstars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao months ahead of their fight scheduled in May.

The momentous occasion took place Wednesday afternoon at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. As many as 700 media members were present to capture the beginnings of the long-awaited fight.

The event was electric as Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao stood inches from each other's face. Alone on the stage, everyone looking on was imagining the endless possibilities the fight could have.

While the number of members is more than usual, the boxing event itself is far from usual. It is also the only joint news conference that the two fighters will be sharing until the week of the fight.

Facing the media, Pacquiao smiled at the members of the press and acknowledged that people have been waiting for the fight for five long years. He also said that him and Mayweather Jr. are both very excited and will train very hard for the fight.

The shocker in the press conference came when Mayweather Jr. took to the podium. Instead of his brash self, he was low key and soft spoken.

"It's been a long road, but we're here now," Mayweather said. "May 2, the fight of the century. It's all about the best fighting best, and Pacquiao is one of the best fighters of this era."

He continued, saying that everything is about timing ad that they couldn't choose a better time. The fight is one he identifies as one that the world can't miss, full of action, and an unbelievable matchup.

While the two fighters were visibly trying to hype the fight, there was little to no need for it.

Pacquiao, the 36-year old Filipino underdog (57-5-2, 38 Kos) is a multiple champion who has fought the best of the best. He faces off against the 38-year old undefeated Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs) who is one of the world's best.

Pacquiao's charging style against Mayweather Jr.'s perfect counterpunching technique, and the prospect of two of the best boxers finally facing off, is the own fuel for its own hype train.
