Josh Gad Joins the Cast of Disney's Live-Action "Beauty and the Beast" as Le Fou

Josh Gad, who, if you might know, voiced Olaf in Disney's extremely successful animated film, Frozen, is in final negotiations to play the role of Le Fou in the live-action of "Beauty and the Beast."

Gad is the first American actor to have been cast in the project, which already has British actress Emma Watson as Belle, British actors Dan Stevens as the Beast and the Prince and Luke Evans as Gaston.

The film, which is directed by Bill Condon and produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, tells the story of a young woman, Belle, whose father is imprisoned by the Beast. She offers himself up and stays in the prison and eventually finds herself in love with the creature, who she discovers is really an enchanted prince.

While there are times when Disney adds a unique twist to its new adaptations of the beloved classic animated movies like Maleficent or Alice in Wonderland, it appears that the studio is sticking closer to the original storyline of the 1991 film, like the new Cinderella, which premieres Friday.

As mentioned, Gad is tasked to bring Le Fou alive, the zany but extremely loyal sidekick to the handsome but very conceited hunter, Gaston.

The 34-year old actor, who was present at Disney's announcement of the Frozen 2 sequel, is also coming back as Olaf in the short film Frozen Fever, which will premiere before Cinderella, the live-action movie of the 1950 original.

Gad will also be seen on the big screen in Sony's science fiction comedy "Pixels," alongside Peter Dinklage and Adam Sandler. Pixels will hit theaters on July 24, 2015.
