Indian rapists are getting worse. Despite the punishment by mob of a car trader suspected of raping a college student last week, another rape was reported on Friday.
What is doubly appalling - although all rapes should be condemned regardless of the age or social status or gender - is that the victim was a nun in her 70s, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. Media reports differed on her age, but the range given is that she is between 70 and 74.

The nun survived the harrowing experience of gang rape and is recovering in the hospital. Police Inspector General Anuj Sharma said 12 people were involved in the attack, but only two people so far has been arrested.
Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal chief minister, in a tweet, condemned the attack and promised swift and strong action. Angry local residents demonstrated in the streets while carrying banners that demanded action.
The rape of the elderly nun happened just a week after India banned the showing of a BBC documentary about the 2012 gang rape of a student in Delhi which sparked massive protests.
The explanation of Indian officials is that showing the documentary could cause public disorder because of the growing uproar over the country's attitude toward rape as exemplified by the remarks of a convicted rapist who even blamed the victim for her death because she resisted the sexual assault.
Critics of the ban charged the Indian government of being concerned more with the image and reputation of India than the safety of its female population often considered second-class citizens on account of their gender.
BBC identifies the scene of the crime at Convent of Jesus and Mary School in Ranaghat where the thieves even stole money before entering the convent. According to Thomas D'Souza, Archbishop of Calcutta, the security cameras captured the faces of the burglars.
He disclosed that the community has only three nuns - one was raped and the two others and a guard were tied to chairs.
The burglars also desecrated the chapel by breaking open the tabernacle and stealing the ciborium which is the sacred vessel used during mass.
