Etta Ng confided to her school teacher about her problems at home such as the fact that Elaine, her mother has a bad alcohol habit and would often hit her.

The teacher, alarmed about Etta's well being, contacted the authorities.

Elaine Ng was arrested last March 11, while trying to pick up Etta from school.

"I didn't know what happened, I haven't slept for days. On the day of the arrest, I went to the school about 4pm to pick Etta as usual but I didn't see her. When I called her, she said she was talking to her teacher.  I waited until 6 pm and she still didn't come out. Soon afterwards two police officers and Etta's teacher told me that she wanted to commit suicide. I looked at my daughter and wondered how this was possible. I talk to my daughter every single night and we always ask each other about our day. We always say things are fine," said Elaine.

15 year old Etta felt depressed because she was not socially accepted with her peers in school. Etta never confided her problems with Elaine, since she thought her mother already had too many problems.

Etta also reveals to media that her mother would drink two bottles of wine every night and would not stop drinking until she would break down and cry. Her drunken episodes lead to physical altercations with her 15 year old daughter.

"I need to get help for mum because I can't help her," said Etta, in an interview with Apple Daily Report via Stomp Straight Times.

The teenager believed that if her mother received help, she can start over a new leaf, and she contemplated on this decision for a long time before contacting the authorities.

Elaine, who got out on bail, reveals that she indeed would drink wine but served as a sleep aid on 'sleepless nights'.  On the police investigation that substances were found in her home and were confiscated for analysis, Elaine responds that her lawyers are currently handing that matter.

"She's worried about my health and the work pressure I face and wanted to get help for me. She knows I love her," said Elaine, in a recent interview with I-cable TV.

Elaine vehemently denied assaulting her daughter and even made a minor demonstration of hitting the interviewer's arm lightly.

"How hard is that?" asked Elaine.

Etta, also known as Cheuk Lam,was sent to the hospital but no injuries were reported. She was not allowed to see her mother  as of the moment, as Elaine will be summoned again to court on May 11.

Meanwhile, Etta's rumored father, Jackie Chan, didn't leave any statement or comment about the incident.

"I don't know anything, "says Jackie's agent when asked about Elaine's issue.
