(Photo : Reuters) India is gripped by a court case where a father killed his daughter's alleged rapist.
Street protest actions erupted at several areas in Ranaghat after police authorities failed to arrest the suspects involved in a gang rape of a nun two days ago.
Street protesters even blocked the convoy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for almost an hour in NH34 after Banerjee visited the rape victim in the hospital. The protesters demanded for immediate results of the investigation and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Since yesterday, police authorities have detained ten persons for this latest India rape case.
Archbishop of Kolkata Thomas D'Souza, who joined the street protest rally, expressed his disappointment on the slow development of the case. According to him, he participated in the protest action as his way of sympathizing with the nun rape victim and as his show of solidarity to people who demanded for a faster probe into the incident.
"The detention of eight persons was a very bright start. But we are not happy because not much headway has been made in this regard," he said. "It's good to see that they are working, but forty-eight hours have passed, so where are the arrests?"
Banerjee claimed that the street protest actions were the doings of CPI-M and BJP. She said that the staging of mass protest was a conspiracy by CPI-M and BJP because they do not want that the police will arrest the real perpetrators.
Banerjee also got angry when the protesters blocked her convoy at NH34. The protesters, most of whom were students, surrounded her convoy and squatted on the road to prevent Banerjee's convoy to pass by.
A furious Banerjee went out from her car and faced the demonstrators.
"The unfortunate incident is being maligned by using political color in it. This is a conspiracy and a handiwork of CPI-M and BJP combine to stop the administration from arresting the real culprits," said Banerjee.
She added that some political people do not want the real culprits to be apprehended. She went on to urge authorities to not hinder the peaceful movement of the missionaries.
Banerjee also challenged the CPI-M and BJP to face her to address the issue.
