The opening day of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) featured an unlikely upset that featured the Georgie State Panthers making a nail-biting 30-foot shot to beat the Baylor Bears (57-56).

Ron Hunter, head coach of the 14th seed Panthers, was sitting on the sidelines during opening day. When he found out his team had secured a position in the tournament, he injured his Achilles tendon.

He put off surgery for the game, opting for a cast instead. The next day though, he was in pain and subsisted on pain pills and grit.

A doctor and athletic trainer cut out the upper part of his cast to relieve the tension. He was adamant on being there for that game.

He coached on a chair with wheels.

After rolling all over the place and shouting instructions at his players, at less than three seconds to go, he fell out of his chair.

With just 2.6 seconds left on the clock, Hunter's son, R.J., made a 30-foot three point shot that beat out the number three seed Bears and knocked them out of the tournament.

When Ron was interviewed about the win, he stepped out of his coaching shoes and entered his dad shoes.

He looked at his son R.J., and told reporters that he was proud of him.

"This is my son. Proud of him, so I wanted to say that. I haven't been able to do that for three years, so I just wanted to say I'm proud of him," he said.

Considering the contrast of budgets that both schools have, the Panthers' win could be called one of the unlikeliest upsets in NCAA basketball history.

Baylor operates with an athletic budget of $100 million. The Panthers on the other hand live on a $20 million budget for a university with 32,000 students.

The win marks only the third NCAA tournament appearance in university history.
