The first ever National Football League (NFL) Veterans Combine gave off feelings of both desperation and hope to many players dreaming of playing the game they love. This is especially true for running Michael Bush.

Last Sunday, the Combine was held in the Arizona Cardinals' practice facility. Players from near and far gathered in the stadium in hopes of returning to the NFL.

For two hours, players like Bush gave it their all and pushed themselves to the breaking point to prove they still have what it takes to be a superstar in the NFL.

Bush was not willing to accept his abrupt exit from the Chicago Bears a year earlier. The way he exited the league never sat well with them, as well as the idea that he may never get to play again.

When the two hours were up, Bush wiped away his sweat and spoke up on the matter.

The first thing he said was that he was still bothered by the 63-carry, 197-yard season he had with the Bears in 2013.

He said he got the short end of the stick on that one. While he acknowledges that life isn't fair, he says that they had him there for a reason but he was not able to get his chances and earn his keep.

He then acknowledged how awkward it was to play in 10 days of the 2014 season.

The last thing he expressed was his motivation for entering into the Combine.

"All I want is a shot," the 30-year old Bush, said. "Just a shot, man. That's it. Put it like this: you sign me, you're going to get an angry, pissed off football player who wants some respect."

The results were recently released though and showed that the former Bears player unofficially clocked in at 4.91 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

When Bush heard the news, he knew that his career was not going to come back.
