It was reported on March 21 the Australian government is set to take action against the use of online-based illegal content.
According to TorrentFreak, the government plans to send warning letters to file-sharers and craft new legislation that will allow local internet service providers to block The Pirate Bay and similar torrent websites.

TorrentFreak notes that people in Australia have to wait for a long time to get their hands on new content from United States. This lag has resulted in unauthorized file-sharing, which entertainment companies demanded authorities stop.
The legislation that will see copyright-infringing websites such as The Pirate Bay blocked by Australian ISPs will be introduced in Parliament next week but won't be passed before the next budget has been confirmed by Attorney-General George Brandis.
On the other hand, U.K. citizens are able to access The Pirate Bay without having to circumvent service provider-installed blockades through a new relationship with Cloudflare.
The Pirate Bay, one of the most notorious file-sharing sites, is also one of the most visited sites on the Internet. The Pirate Bay has been a target of the entertainment industry and international law.
