Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, who crashed Flight 9525 into the French Alps that killed himself and 149 others, was set to marry his 26-year old girlfriend Kathrin Goldbach who is pregnant with his child.
Katrin Goldbach, a teacher, had reportedly revealed her pregnancy to her pupils. The couple had been living together in Lubitz's apartment in Düsseldorf.

Five days before the tragic plane crash, Lubitz had purchased two Audi cars --- one of which he planned to give to Goldbach.
The couple met when they had their holiday jobs at Burger King during their teenage years. Their on-and-off 7-year relationship, however, was reportedly strained by Lubitz's compulsive behaviour and alleged fling with a stewardess.
"He was a control freak of the highest order,. She said he was very kind and attentive but he had problems with mood swings," one of Goldbach's friends said. "And I think we sensed that she became fearful over time."
Accordingly, Goldbach has lost her patience with Lubitz's mood swings and erratic behaviour, and was planning to move out from his apartment.
Upon learning that Lubitz is one of the casualties in the plane crash, Goldbach left for France, only to find out that the father of her unborn child is the perpetrator of the mass murder.
It is still undetermined if his patchy relationship with Goldbach or his eye vision problems has brought him further to psychological collapse, causing him to ram A320 Airbus into the French Alps. Authorities, however, are sure that Lubitz is suffering with extreme depression and was under psychiatric treatment.
Investigators found a small pile of antidepressants in Lubitz's apartment and from his parental home in Rhineland, Montabaur. They also discovered torn-up doctor notes in the pilot's apartment.
