New Twitter Updates Will Revamp Direct Messaging Feature

Twitter Inc announced some much needed improvements on their mobile app, which will allow better access to direct messaging.

Twitter will release these updates in the next two weeks, allowing users to gain better access to the micro blogging giant's direct messaging feature.

This mobile app update will allow users to browse through the entire direct message history that will hopefully provide a better chat experience with DMs.

On its Twitter Support account, the firm announced that users can now access all its direct messages instead of just a few messages at a time.

Shortly after this announcement, Twitter also said that it is working on some relevant changes that will synchronize all deleted messages across all mobile and web platforms.

Previously, users can delete their messages on their smartphone but will continue to see the message on their tablet, desktop version or on the website itself.

Direct messaging allows users to send private messages to anyone that they are following but it was only last year when Twitter added new features, such as attaching photos to direct messages.

Last April, Twitter added pop up notifications on the web. It is also expected to release a group messaging feature and even a standalone messaging app.

Twitter hopes to revamp its direct messaging feature with these important updates in order to compete with rivals, such as WhatsApp and Facebook.

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo looks forward to these important changes in direct messaging as he believes that there is real opportunity when it comes to private messaging.

The private messaging will strengthen the core of Twitter, making it easier for users to have conversations anywhere, said Costolo.

Among other updates, the most important one to date was made only last month when Twitter announced it will support animated GIFs, which is a considerable advantage over Facebook that currently does not allow it.

Users can now share and upload animated GIFs on their desktop version, android and iPhone versions as well.
