Barcelona striker Luis Suarez revealed that Spanish football powerhouse Real Madrid made an attempt to acquire him from Liverpool last summer, the Uruguayan International said in an interview with Inside Spanish Football on Friday.

According to Suarez, Real Madrid was serious in adding him to their list of galactico millionaires right after Liverpool decided to sell him during the 2014 transfer period. In the end, the Uruguayan pushed the Liverpool management to send him to Barcelona, where he would realize his long-time dream of playing for the top-notch football club.

"Madrid was very interested in me, but my dream was always to play for Barça. When I heard the name Barça, I didn't have a shadow of a doubt. Barcelona are the best team in the world, without a doubt. I'm at Barça and I'm obligated to try and win titles," Suarez told Inside Spanish football.

When asked if he wants to wrap up his career with Barcelona, Suarez said he wasn't sure about that since he still has interest in returning to Ajax and Nacional - his first two football clubs since he turned professional as a teenager.

"It's difficult to finish my career at Barça. I already told Ajax and Nacional I'd be back," said Suarez, who has been a huge acquisition for Barcelona.

After a shaky start, Barcelona began finding their groove at the start of the year, putting the star-studded trio of Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi to maximum use. Suarez insisted that Barca's second-half surge would not be possible had not Messi made the sacrifice to make things work out for everyone on the team.

"One day, I was in the '9' position and Messi told me: 'You stay there'. After that, the manager saw that we'd found a good solution and we tried it out. The fans are used to the tiki-taka, beautiful play, but football today is very even and you have to be more direct and stronger. Barcelona fans need to get used to suffering," Suarez said of his teammate.
