Apple hasn't updated investors on Apple Watch sales, but it appears the first 24 hours yielded close to one million sales in the U.S. alone, not counting the other 14 countries where the smartwatch is available to pre-order.
The report comes from Slice Intelligence. It claims Apple managed to sell more units in one day than Android Wear partners managed to sell in half a year. It's an impressive statistic but unverified until Apple updates us.

Queues outside Apple stores were small compared to an iPhone launch but that isn't surprising given the niche wearable market. Online traffic was heavy, however, with millions checking out the watch options and straps.
In the report, 62 percent of customers bought the Watch Sport. The black sports band is the most popular on the Watch Sport and the Watch, followed by the Milanese Loop, Link Bracelet and black Classic Buckle.
Interestingly, the average sale price for Watch Sport was $382 while the Watch had an average sale price of $707. The average price per sale across the launch day was $503, potentially pumped up by the three percent of customers buying the Watch Edition.
The Apple Watch features some expensive straps costing $149 at the top-end. This makes the sports strap much more appealing with $49 price-tag, even if it removes some of the quality from the smartwatch.
The 12-inch MacBook also went live on April 10 for order although it quickly reverted to 4-6 weeks wait time. The report claims 48,000 units were sold, quite a high number given the $1,200 price tag on the underpowered and super-thin notebook.
Even though Apple has managed to launch two products with acceptable sales, it doesn't mean customer satisfaction will go through the roof like it was for the iPhone and iPad. We expect many early adopters on the Apple Watch will have issues with bugs, in-app issues and the new button placement, changing the ergonomics completely.
Customers of the 12-inch MacBook are less likely to feel burned due to the specifications being labeled as mobile variants. If you buy a MacBook with the intention of hardcore gaming or professional use, you may want to start reading the specs before spending over $1,000.
