Homaro Cantu, a chef famous for his vast knowledge of integrating science and fine dining, was found dead on the Northwest Side last Tuesday, according to business partner via Chicago Tribune.
The Moto Restaurant owner was 38 years old.
Cantu was found in a building in 4400 West Montrose Avenue, a site where he intended to open a brewery.

Cantu was found to have hanged himself and the evident cause of death was suicide, according to investigators.
An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
"This guy was my best friend. He was going to be my business partner," said Trevor Rose-Hamblin, Moto's general manager.
Hamblin, Cantu's former brewer, expressed his feelings of grief.
Cantu's inspiration that drove him to create a different type of cuisine came from his upbringing in the Pacific Northwest, bringing emphasis on his parent's experience of not having a permanent home.
Examples of Cantu's creative ideas were edible menus, carbonated fruit and a special preparation of fish cooked in a tabletop polymer box. The renowned chef also had goals of making a hangover-free beer, synthetic meat, egg made for vegans and a non-package citrus juice.
These works sparked amusement among the customers but Cantu also presented this as a rational solution to solve the world's current problem of hunger.
Cantu firmly believed that there were possible solutions to every problem, no matter how difficult it may be. If there were no possible solutions, the consequences would lead to a 'darker path'.
The Berrista, a coffee shop also owned by Cantu, endorsed the 'Miracle Berry' as its main ingredient.
The berry possessed properties that mimic the taste of sugar, which provided the most bland and worst tasting food items a burst of flavor.
Cantu is survived by his wife, Katie McGowan, a fellow chef whom he met in 2012.
