In a stunning turn of events, defending National Basketball Association (NBA) champions, the San Antonio Spurs, lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first game of the playoffs season (107-92).
The Spurs' playoff run did not go exactly as planned, ending on the losing side of the scoreboard by the end of the first game in the first round series.

Starting in the first quarter, the Spurs looked to already have dug themselves into a hole as they were trailing by as much as 12 points by the end of the quarter (30-18). Throughout the whole game though, the Spurs trailed by as much as 20 points.
However, the always formidable Spurs were able to use their talent and experience to get back in the game. They even tied the Clippers in the second quarter and ended up trailing by six points by halftime.
The second half saw the Clippers revitalized and refocused though, outscoring the Spurs 58-49 to claim the victory.
As was evident throughout the whole regular season, Kahwi Leonard was expected to bring the same level of breathtaking performance he had been associated with. He did come out big for the Spurs, shooting over 50 percent from the field and going 7 out of 12.
Leonard ended the game with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals, but it just was not enough.
Chris Paul was on the opposite side of the court, showing the same fine form that led him to become the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the NBA. He finished with a game-high 32 points.
However, Paul's scoring was not the only thing that helped his team out. He also contributed seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Moreover, it was his stifling defense against the San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker that was most notable in his performance. He was able to keep Parker to just 4 of 11.
