All-Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is going to be one of the biggest names on the free-agency market this summer, with many NBA insiders and pundits alike considering him a max-contract type of a player. Aldridge reiterated a number of times already that his first option will be to re-sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, but his teammates are starting to worry that the crafty big man might bolt out from Oregon this summer.

In his latest report on the Oregonian, Blazers beat writer Jason Quick stated that several Blazers players already doubt Aldridge's interest in staying in Portland for a long haul, if the Blazers were not able to make a deep playoff run. Some even believed the chances for the Blazers to re-sign the All-Star power forward is 50-50.
"Some Blazers players have already said they are worried free agency will take Aldridge away from Portland this summer." Quick stated in his piece. "Earlier this month, before a home game, a Blazers player estimated the chances of him returning to Portland at 50-50."
Aldridge, who averaged 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in the regular-season, shunned contract extension negotiation last offseason to give him more leverage in demanding a long-haul max contract deal. Although he stressed that he wants to continue playing in Portland, league sources indicated that he might consider offers from other contenders capable of giving him a lucrative contract and a chance to win an NBA title.
Big market teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are reportedly interested to have their hands on the double-double machine, while Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs are other potential destinations because of Aldridge Texas roots.
Aldridge scored 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Sunday's 100-86 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round series.
