Uncooperative Computer Gets 8 Bullets From Irate Colorado Owner

Blue Screen of Death

(Photo : howtogeek.com) Colorado man was so frustrated by the frequent appearance of the blue screen of death on his computer that he decided to just kill the device.

Most owners of a computer that crashes or frequently exhibits glitches either shut it off, curse or pound their units in frustration. But not Lucas Finch of Colorado who decided to end the life of his useless computer by pumping eight bullets in its central processing unit.

While destroying one's computer is not a crime in itself - unless the device is the subject of an investigation - the 37-year-old owner of an organic herb and tea shop made the mistake of venting his frustration on his computer by shooting it in a public place, specifically a back alley, the Daily Mail reports.

Finch said he had given up on his Dell XPS 410, which frequently showed the blue screen of death that he got his 9mm gun that he bought from a Craigslist seller, took the computer at the alley behind the Organica Herb & Tea Co., and ended the misery that was caused by the useless device.

If daughters of airline owners could throw a fit 30,000 feet up in the air when served macadamia nuts in a plastic bag and not a bowl, computer owners, too, have a right to show their anger at their uncooperative devices.

Bob Sullivan calls it computer rage, which he said was coined a decade ago by University of Maryland professor Kent Norman. Based on Norman's survey, some people express their computer rage by throwing computer desks, chairs and the mouse, running the computer over with truck, pouring gasoline and setting it on fire, and smashing the router with a hammer, burning it and sending a photo of the charred router to the tech support that couldn't provide solutions.

In one incident, the computer rage was over the daughter of an executive angry because his child spends too much time online that he also used eight bullets on the laptop, filmed how he punished the computer and shared it online, which even became viral.

Meanwhile, Finch, who breached the law because he discharged his pistol within city limits, is waiting for a date from the court on what his penalty would be for killing his computer.
