Cash Strapped ATV In Talks To Broadcast HKTV Dramas

ATV, a cash strapped broadcasting network, failed to renew its broadcasting license for next year. Facing problems for possible shutdown, the network tried several means to stay afloat.

HKTV Chairman, Ricky Wong made a proposal to air HKTV dramas to increase its ratings, thus increasing revenue for ATV, according to Jaynestars News.

ATV recently held a press release for its upcoming program, 'Fighting Cancer With Love' with Kwong Chor Fai, a former actor from TVB who is a cancer survivor. Kwong reportedly has bowel cancer and sustained eight chemotherapy sessions.

The program will commence filming on April 25 and is scheduled for a premiere on Mother's Day.

ATV's executive Ip Ka Po expects that this show will garner more donations for its anti-cancer programs, since last year's show received good ratings and brought in a huge income as well. ATV looks forward to broadcasting more programs related to health in the near future since this helps promote education and awareness towards cancer.

"We held a board meeting today. I was voted to be ATV's representative to meet Mr. Wong," said Ip Ka Po, who also revealed that he still hasn't met up with Mr. Wong yet.

He also elucidated the details of what specific programs from HKTV should be broadcast through ATV and what programs are suited for free airing as well.

Ip Ka Po promises that after preliminary discussions are made, another board meeting will take place to finalize everything. He also revealed that the employees' wages for April will be given soon after ATV can accumulate the required amount needed to be given.

ATV also has other plans to create programs and events that will be financially supported by the benefactors. The ATV executive discussed a possible opportunity for the network to have a mutual collaboration with potential investors.
