Floyd Mayweather Jr, who won the recent match against Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, expressed interest in facing the British boxer Amir Khan in his next match, according to BBC Sports.

The 38-year-old boxer, undefeated in his previous 48 matches, retained his title of WBC Welterweight Champion' through a one sided victory against Pacquiao. Khan revealed that he was approached by Len Ellerbe, Floyd Mayweather's manager in the MGM Grand Garden Arena last Saturday, according to an interview with BBC 5.

Khan was told by Ellerbe to "get it on" with his prospective match with Mayweather.

"Financially I know it'll be a big fight and it will be an exciting fight," said Khan.

The British born boxer elucidated that he was also invited by Pacquiao's team for a potential match. Khan stated that Mayweather's team expressed great interest but Pacquiao's team also wants to face him as well.

"I'm in a position where I could face either but I want Mayweather," said the 28-year-old boxer.

Mayweather recently announced that his last match will be on September before retiring from the sport because he no longer finds it enjoyable. However, should Khan push through with the proposal, he will refuse the fight schedule in September because of Ramadan.

Khan has a record of winning 30 out of his 33 matches and cemented his career as boxer when he defeated Devon Alexander in Las Vegas last December. Khan will face the former Light Welterweight World Champio title holder Chris Algieri in May 30.

Khan, an Islam believer, emphasized that he has Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s number and he is open to his terms and conditions as well. The match will also depend on Khan's schedule, though the boxer says a fight set earlier this year is most preferable.
