The much anticipated "Fight of The Century," the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, which was almost six years in the making, turned out to be not so spectacular at all, through the eyes of the audience, both pay-per-view and ordinary cable broadcasting.

Pound-for-pound fighter Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr, the most decorated athletes of our time, fought in a 12-round bout last May 3. However, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight only incited criticism, according to FTW USA Today.

Six years ago, it was inevitable that Mayweather and Pacquiao would set to fight. However, there were several circumstances that inhibited the "fight of the century" to commence.

Mayweather demanded drug tests and a bigger percentage. Pacquiao, in response, filed a defamation lawsuit against Mayweather that was eventually settled last 2012.

Most of the fans were not closing their doors to the possibility of a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight in the near future.

When the fight date for both boxers was set, along with the proper promotion and marketing, people around the world were enthusiastic.

The 36-year-old Filipino boxer, who holds a 3-2 record in his last five matches, is not only a boxer back in his home country. Manny Pacquiao is also a politician, singer, actor, pastor, Kia basketball team owner, product endorser, businessman and a philanthropist.

That enumeration alone has more credentials than Tony Stark stripped out his Iron Man suit. However, Pacquiao's biggest challenge was the size disadvantage that even speed and accurate footwork could not compensate for it.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., on the other hand, is the ultimate "money man," the boxer who definitely lives up to his moniker, "Money."

The 38-year-old boxer was also dubbed the "hype machine" because of his charisma and magnetism.  His personality shone more than the gold plated mouthpiece that he was wearing.

The Las Vegas millionaire holds a perfect undefeated record of 47-0 and his goal is to beat former boxer Rocky Marciano's record of 49-0. The only disadvantage Mayweather has is the fact that he has the "zero likability" factor.

The fans, whether it may be for Pacman or for Money, ignored all these disadvantages. After all, everyone rooted for each boxer to be at their best.

The major letdown of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was the fact that was just a well-marketed sparring, as stated by the spectators.  Some were quick to interpret "payout fight" as something to ponder.

Though both sides wanted to win but it was not on par with the matches of previous boxers such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Joe Frazier.

Almost 30 years ago, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns fought for only three rounds and it was proclaimed as the fight of the year, with the match lasting only eight minutes. Both fighters were immediately rushed to the hospital, for throwing punches that will make them earn the belt.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was none of the brawls that people expected.

Most anticipated Pacquiao's reach would be long enough to hit Mayweather or Floyd's defense would go down.

When the seventh round of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight commenced, it was evident by the look on people's faces that a potential knockout was never going to happen.

As the ring announcer proclaimed Mayweather as the victor, it was indeed an inevitable occurrence. Floyd pounced around the ring prior to the announcement, victory was already written all over his face.

Regardless of who supports who, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight was indeed a disappointment to some and a waste of money as well. Unless a rematch can ensue after this fight then it'll be a '"game changer."
