It has been finally proved that it is a myth that most of the babies are born at night. A study conducted by Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Center for Health Statistics reveals that most of the babies are born between 8am and 12 noon. Tuesday happens to be the most common day of birth.

CDC has been tracking almost 90 percent of the child-births since the last two years for this study and has substantial data on induced labors, caesarian deliveries, spontaneous labors and even out-of-hospital births. They have been collecting data for the most common time of birth since the last 12 years, according to Today.
Most of the elective C-sections are also scheduled during the morning hours and they also contribute to the growing numbers of morning babies, as reported by NY Daily News.
Tuesday is the favourite day for most of the babies to be born, followed by the dreaded Monday. All the babies who were born on the weekends - Saturday and Sunday - were extremely probable to be born during late evening hours and the wee morning hours. This is in sharp contrast to all the births which occurs during working days.
Babies born in the morning and during the daytime are more likely to survive compared to the night-owls. Data collected by Stanford University said that the babies who were born during the night had a lower survival rate, compared to the morning babies. The night owls were 12-16 percent are more likely to die during the first month of their existence.
This conclusion is collaborated by another Swedish study, who had found similar results. They had attributed this to the fatigue that seeps into the medical staff during the night duty hours, which makes them less agile and less responsive to the babies.
