They remark that it is insanely easy to find the OS reset button on the smart watch without unlocking it. A long press at the side button rolls out the Power Menu which can be Force touched to erase all data from the device and make it as good as new.

Previously, other iOS devices were found at risk wherein they could be reset using the Recovery Mode subsequent to which iTunes could be used to restore the device. However, with the rolling out of the activation lock feature in iOS 7, theft cases for these high-end devices has been brought down to manageable levels.

The feature ensures that the original Apple ID used to set up the iCloud initially is verified even post a complete reset of the system. Moreover, a pending legislation in the United States makes it mandatory for all smart phone makers to incorporate such features in their devices. This is a much-needed step especially for highend wearables and smartphones in order to protect them from thieves and keep them secure at all costs.

Apple enthusiast site iDownloadBlog remarked that post the revelation of such loopholes in the security of the watch, there could be a sharp increase in the number of thefts of these watches. He added that this problem is more severe from a theft point of view as compared to the user data standpoint.

The pioneer smart device maker Apple should immediately fix this security defect to ensure the much promised security to its consumers, reports said. A security patch is immediately needed to plug this safety issue.
