(Photo : Reuters) Jailed Chinese tycoon Huang Guangyu still reaping rich profits.
Huang Guangyu, former chairman of Gome Electrical Appliances Holdings Ltd, jailed on charges of bribery in 2010 seems to be operating his business well as he registers a gain of one million dollars.
If one thought being behind bars spelled the end of a career, one could be mistaken. According to China Daily, Huang Guangyu, a prominent businessman who was jailed way back in 2010, registered a massive gain of one million dollars this year. Guangyu was the chairman of Gome Electrical Appliances Holdings Ltd when he was sent behind bars on charges of bribery and insider trading; however, being in jail did not deter his market instincts from guiding his business because in the last five years, Guangyu has actually witnessed the value of his stake go up to more than two times standing at a staggering 900 million dollars in April. Market analysts are claiming that this gain is the result of the Chinese investor pouring money in Hong Kong markets which has relatively lower trade restrictions.

Gome is an appliance selling firm that was founded by Huang Guangyu. On Wednesday, when the markets in Hong Kong sounded the closing bell, the Chinese appliance retailer actually emerged as one of the most valued stock since the month of April. Another report on China indicates that the share of Guangyu's firm have actually soared by 114 percent since April.
Even Huang's wife who holds a major 32.4 percent stake in the company registered impressive gains. Huang was China's richest man before he was sent to prison on charges of bribery. However, the master mind seems to have planned his business well as he continues the monetary gain even in prison. He is currently completing a 14 years imprisonment sentence.
While Huang remained unavailable for comment, there were reports that he would soon be eligible for parole as he approaches the mid-term of his sentence. However, there was no confirmation in this regard.
