Sony Releases Japan-Exclusive Xperia A4

Sony is releasing another Japan-exclusive smartphone following the success of the Xperia Z4 which was launched in April. The new Sony Xperia A4, just like the Xperia Z4, will be released only in Japan through NTT Docomo mobile carrier.

The Xperia A4 may sound like a completely new model but the smartphone has a lot of similarities with the Xperia Z3 Compact. The Xperia A4 has a Snapdragaon 801 2.5 GHz four-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 gigabyte of memory. The smartphone, just like the Xperia Z3, has a 4.6-inch touchscreen display with a 1280 x 720 resolution.

According to Digital Trends, the Xperia A4 has a 2.2 megapixel front camera and a 20.7 megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor and LED flash. It also has a powerful 2600 mAh battery which Sony claims can last up to three days on casual use. The Xperia A4 has a 16 gigabyte internal storage which can be expanded by as much as 128 gigabyte through the microSD card slot.

Finally, the Xperia A4 also adhere to IP65 and IP68 standards in order to make sure that the smartphone has excellent dust and water resistance, according to Siliconindia.

Additional Xperia A4 specs include Wi-Fi connectivity, RDS enabled FM Radio, 4G LTE capability, standard 3.5 mm audio jack and Bluetooth 4.0. The device measures 127.3mm long, 66mm wide and 8.64mm thick. The device only weighs 129 grams.

According to NDTV Gadgets, Sony will offer the Xperia A4 in four different color variants; White, Pink, Blue and Grey. Sony will start shipping the device by June and interested buyers can pre-order it on NTT Docomo. Sony has yet to confirm how much the smartphone will cost once it hit the market.

Although the smartphone has is a great sales prospect in markets like the United States and Europe, Sony has yet to announce whether it will offer the smartphone outside of Japan.
