When it comes to the Asian continent, India and China are two countries that hold the power to drive the momentum of growth in the region; however, the lack of cooperation between the two giants has led to a situation where both countries are making quite a few loses on the trade and tourism front.
When the leaders of the two countries met last week, the two decided to pledge to boost trade volumes by increasing cooperation on multiple fronts. According to ECNS, the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that the current size of their economies did not match the trade volumes that they had and so the need to increase cooperation is obviously important.
The report also elaborates on Modi's statement, which said that in spite of 33 percent of the world population being are Chinese, the two economies know very little about each other. By liberalising the travel and visa norms, Modi said that they would motivate more and more people to travel across border from both countries. This in turn will lead to exchange of ideas and gradually promote business, innovation and development in India and China.
On Friday, the two heads signed 24 deals worth more than 10 million dollars.
