NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Have Shot at DeAndre Jordan

In the aftermath of the Los Angeles Clippers' Game 7 loss to the Houston Rockets, Lakers Nation's Corey Hansford reported that Clips starting center DeAndre Jordan could be headed to the other side of the NBA's Los Angeles fence this coming 2015-2016 season.

Allegedly, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for an efficient rim protector that would be the backbone of Byron Scott's defense, and Jordan is right smack dab in the middle of the team's crosshairs as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Jordan had long been deemed by basketball analysts as a wrong suit with All-Star Blake Griffin, as the latter settles for more midrange jumpers when the former is with him on the floor. It was reported by Grantland's Zach Lowe that "Griffin morphs back into a bulldozer... when Jordan sits", bullying his way around to shooting 55 percent within the restricted area when he was paired with Spencer Hawes in the Clippers' frontcourt instead.

Obviously, the Clips are more formidable when Griffin is in that bulldozer mindset.

Head coach Doc Rivers had always voiced out that Jordan is part of the team's Big Three together with Griffin and superstar point guard Chris Paul.

Just recently, Rivers reportedly tweeted Orange County Register's Dan Woike that re-signing Jordan is the Clips "top offseason priority." However, it is not clear whether Jordan would want to stay in for the ride. The team already has two max players in their fold (Griffin and Paul), and adding another one would be too much for them.

The Lakers have sufficient cap space to give Jordan a max offer, however.

Aside from the Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks are also interested in signing Jordan, as reported by Dana Gauruder of Hoops Rumors.
