Magic Johnson Trolls Chris Paul & CO: ‘The Clippers Are Still The Clippers’

Lakers legend Magic Johnson has always been outspoken when it comes to expressing his thoughts about anything Los Angeles. After watching the "other" L.A. NBA franchise suffer a monumental collapse in their second round series versus the Houston Rockets, he is brutally at it again.

As reported by Lakers Nation's Corey Hansford, moments after the Los Angeles Clippers lost Game 7 on the road against the Rockets, Magic tweeted that "the Clippers are still the Clippers." He also said that he thought the San Antonio Spurs already gave the Clips a valuable lesson about winning during their series-clinching Game 7 win in round one, but he was wrong.
Johnson also tweeted that the loss "will always haunt them," according to Scott Rafferty of Sporting News.
The Clippers overcame the defending champion Spurs in an epic seven-game series during the first round, while they also led the second round series with the Rockets, 3-1, before losing three consecutive games and getting knocked out of the playoffs once again.
Head coach Doc Rivers, and his superstar tandem of Christ Paul and Blake Griffin, will not find it funny, but Johnson is obviously not joking. Considered by many as one of the greatest to ever play the game, Magic had led the Lakers to the NBA Finals nine times during the span of his illustrious 13-year career, and winning five of those trips.
The Clippers have never managed to get past the second round of the playoffs in the 45-year history of their franchise.
Despite the defeat and his comments, Washington Post's Des Bieler reported that Johnson praised Paul's Game 7 performance, saying that "he played with a lot of heart and energy."
Paul had suffered a hamstring injury during Game 7 of their series with the Spurs and was out during games 1 and 2 against the Rockets.
