Flow App for iPhone

(Photo : Reuters) It is rumored that Microsoft plans to launched a new Chat app called Flow for the iPhone.

Reports are coming out that Microsoft is planning to launch a new mobile chat app called Flow and will initially be launched on the iPhone.

Twitter user h0x0d stumbled upon the details regarding the new app, where it included a download page that was labeled as "Microsoft Confidential." It described Flow as app build for "fast, fluid, natural conversations" that does not need "subject lines, salutations or even signatures." It is said that Flow will provide a speedy means of messaging to contacts not included in one's regular email inbox.

Microsoft has yet to acknowledge the existence of the Flow app but the leaked details appears convincing enough.

ZDNet believes that Flow would be the chat companion of Outlook, just like Qik did to Skype. Last year, Microsoft released Skype Qik which is a service that provides easier and faster video-messages than the regular Skype. Qik only requires a mobile number from the user to start communicating. Skype Qik is available to the Windows Phone, iPhone and Android.

If the description is correct, Flow will be a simpler and faster app than the normal Outlook email and may give Microsoft an edge in the chat app market which is already reaching saturation point.

Based on information obtained, it is quite interesting that Flow will be launched as an Outlook accompaniment instead of a solo product as the fact that Microsoft plans to release it first on the iPhone instead of the Windows phone has certainly raised a few eyebrows, said reports.

However, the Outlook email app did very well on the iOS. Microsoft bought and rebranded the Accompli email and was immediately hailed as the top Gmail app for Apple's iOS. The Outlook email app for the Android is also based on the updated and rebranded Accompli email while the Outlook app for the Windows Phone uses a different code base, although it looks similar to the Android and iPhone version.
