Park Hae-Jin will be playing the lead role in the upcoming Korean drama "Cheese in the Trap." It is based on the Soon Ggi's popular webtoon of the same name.

"Park Hae Jin has been cast as the male lead character, Yoo Jung, in 'Cheese in the Trap.' He is currently focusing on preparing for his character," the actor's rep. at his agency WM Company said, as quoted by Soompi.

The webtoon "Cheese in the Trap" is hugely popular not only in South Korea but also in China, Thailand and Indonesia, according to Yahoo.  It is the story of Hong Seol and Yoo Jung and their conflict and love. The character of Yoo Jung, played by Hae-jin, is a senior student at a college and the story's plot describes him as a good looking man who not only excels academically but is also quite athletic. He has both kind and dark sides.

According to the synopsis of Webtoon "Cheese in the Trap," "Seol Hong is a hard-working student, who has returned to college after a long break. Jung Yu is a senior at the college known as Mr. Perfect. Seol feels like her life took a turn for the worse since she got involved with Jung. Is Jung intentionally turning Seol's life?"

Hae Jin has earlier starred in "East of Eden," "My Daughter Seo-young," "My Love from the Star" and "Bad Guys." According to Yahoo's report, he has been offered the role because his looks, family, schooling and fashion are quite similar to Yoo Jung.  

It looks like the actor had been talking about the similarities even before there were talks of "Cheese in the Trap" being adapted into a television show. "Cheese in the Trap" is currently in the pre-production stage. It is not yet known who will be playing Seol Hong.
