Not so good news for the Atlanta Hawks. But good enough, though.

DeMarre Carroll, the Atlanta Hawks and their fans can heave a sigh of relief as X-rays were negative and an MRI on Carroll's left knee revealed no structural damage, as reported by Bleacher Report's Tyler Conway. A tweet by USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt also disclosed that the 6-foot-8 small forward will be "treated around the clock" and "should be listed as day to day."

This should be good enough news for the Atlanta faithful as the former Missouri standout "hopes to play" in Friday's Eastern Conference Finals Game 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, as reported by AP's Chales Odum on the NBA's official website.

"I think sometimes you tend to think it could be the worst and right now everything we're getting back is positive," Haws coach Mike Budenholzer said. Budenholzer added that Carroll would be a game-time decision depending on the recommendation of his doctors.

An uplifting sight was observed following Carroll's MRI as he was seen walking around without crutches in the Philips Arena after the procedure. However, if he will not be available, Budenholzer is projected to insert Kent Bazemore to replace Carroll in the starting lineup.

2014-2015 was Carroll's break out season after playing for five NBA teams in six years. He averaged 5.3 rebounds and career-highs in points (12.6) and three-point shooting (.395) during the recently concluded regular season. He was actually even better in the playoffs as he had been the Hawks leading scorer so far, averaging 17.1 points a contest after two rounds, and Atlanta's designated LeBron defender.

Carroll is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and many teams, such as the Lakers, Celtics, and Pistons, are rumored to draw him from the market, according to Sporting News' Sean Deveney.
