Facebook Rolls Out Messenger’s Video Call in More Countries Worldwide

Facebook Messenger's video call has now become available in more countries worldwide, the Facebook Newsroom reported.

The statement said that beside Canada, United States, video calling on iOS and Android have debuted in Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US, and Uruguay.

The rollout however doesn't stop there. More countries will receive the upgrade in the coming months.

"Messenger already offers people the ability to make voice calls to friends and loved ones around the world. Video calling will expand Messenger's real-time communication features, enabling the more than 600 million people who use Messenger every month to reach others wherever they are, from anywhere. It's fast, reliable and high quality," the Facebook Newsroom stated.

The Facebook messenger app was launched in 2012 to compete with other messaging platform. The app has changed media distribution; it is also now used for business potential and advertising tool. In 2009, Facebook's ad revenue was at $764 million.

Business Insider's social media advertising report showed that revenues would grow close to $14 billion by 2018. This year, it is estimated that the revenue will reach $8.4 billion. The growth will also extend to mobile social media ads projected to create a $9.1 billion market on mobile.

Social media advertising helps stretch the reach for potential audience compared to other online platforms. Several businesses are now trying it as one of marketing tools and to raise their portfolio.

Twitter and LinkedIn  have also increased their revenues through social media advertisement, raking in millions of dollars and contributing to various successful social media ad campaigns.

London-based Audiboom (LSE: BOOM) is an audio social media platform that also takes advantage of social media advertisement. According to its website, the audio platform is also being utilized for advertising.

"AudioBoom also allows the monetization of audio via the dynamic insertion of pre and post roll advertising into content as a user is listening, allowing contemporary advertising selection, depending on content genre and geographic location of the user," it stated.

The content are brought to the listeners via Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.

Content partners can also make use of mobile apps. BBC, Telegraph, Guardian, CBS, Sky Sports, Premier League, Southern Cross Austereo, Reuters, CNBC, Universal and Fox are among the big company names that are using this platform.
