The Chicago Bears let go of defensive end Ray McDonald after he got arrested again in California on charges of domestic violence and child endangerment, according to The New York Times' Ken Belson.

McDonald, who was also investigated last year after being accused of sexual assault in San Jose, California, was arrested for the second time in nine months concerning domestic violence accusations.

After being fired by the San Francisco 49ers last year, the Bears gave him a second chance to play in the professional league by signing him up this year. But he botched that once more with this recent indictment as he was released by a second NFL team in as many years.

CNN's Mariano Castillo reports that Santa Clara police took action after receiving a call on early Monday morning. Officers immediately arrived at the McDonald's residence, but he was not there anymore. Hours later McDonald was arrested in San Jose.

The article said that the 30-year-old Florida native allegedly "physically assaulted the victim while she was holding a baby," according to a police statement.

On Monday afternoon, news was released that the Bears had let him go after being made aware of the incident, as per Yahoo Sports' Frank Schwab.

"We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear," Chicago general manager Ryan Pace tweeted using the team's account. "He was not able to meet the standard and the decision was made to release him."

This latest McDonalds case took place following other domestic violence charges on other NFL players such as Greg Hardy, Ray Rice, and Adrian Peterson. These legal issues provoked different women's groups to hold the league responsible for the off-court behavior of their players, especially in terms of upholding women's rights.

The NFL, however, swore to tighten up on their players who will be involved in any domestic violence cases in the future.

And this McDonalds case surely proved that the league is dead serious about it.
