(Photo : Reuters) Recently, there were many reports revealing Samsung Galaxy security issues in phones and tablets. The mobile phone maker has confirmed that it is taking steps to resolve this issue and hopes to fix the problem soon.
In what comes across as a pleasant surprise for Android users, a patent application filed last week under the American law reveals that Samsung is aggressively working on a device that will allow users to switch between Android and Microsoft Windows on their smartphones.
The idea of being able to use smartphones like desktops and laptops has long been a fascination of gadget freaks across the globe. In fact, according to reports on Geek, both Microsoft and Canonical have been aggressively working on the idea, where it will be possible for smartphone users to get a desktop working experience through their mobiles itself.

The talks here are focusing on making smartphones that double up as fully functional desktops; however, it seems like Samsung Electronics has taken the competitive fever to the next level by filing for a patent of a device that will facilitate the conversion of smartphones into laptops, though, in terms of user interface only.
Mashable pointed out that the device is more likely a mobile docking unit that also comes with a keyboard for an enhanced user experience. It is said that to use such system, mobiles would need to be compatible with Android as well as the Windows Operating system. Users will be able to view the details on the attached screen and operate the system through the add-on keyboard. As soon as the mobile is docked into the slot of this device, the internal configuration will switch the operating system from Android to Windows.
Other details in the patent revealed that Samsung may also add a trackpad to this set-up. Meanwhile, several other companies in the past have attempted such a feat but not been successful. As of now, Samsung seems all geared up to take up the project. The idea could work because, according to analysts, not many want to invest in a Windows smartphone however the audience for a Windows laptop is still massive.
So far there has been no official comment by Samsung that talks about the progress of the project or other developments in this regard.
