Fans of the Orlando Magic will be witnessing a homecoming as former player Scott Skiles is slated to return to the team, only this time as a coach.
According to the New York Times, Skiles was a member of the Magic's inaugural team that debuted during the 1989-1990 season. He played five seasons with the Magic where he won the NBA Most Improved Player Award during the 1990 season. As a player, Skiles played with the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Washington Bullets, Philadelphia 76ers and PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece.

Skile who was born in La Porte, Indiana also holds the NBA record for most assists made in a single game with 30 besting the record previously held by Kevin Porter. Skiles achieved this feat while playing for the Magic.
Skiles' NBA career statistics include 6,652 points and 3,881 assists. His career percentage stands at 11.1 points per game and 6.5 assists per game.
Skiles has a reputable coaching career spanning 13 years. He has coaching stints with Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks. Throughout his career as a coach, Skiles garnered a record of 443-433 win-loss record. He had his best season when he was head coach of the Suns in the 2000-2001 NBA season where he helped the team to a 51-31 record, according to Detroit Free Press.
As coach of the Chicago Bulls, Skiles guided the team into three consecutive playoff seasons. According to Arizona Daily Star, Skiles ended the postseason drought in Chicago which lasted for six consecutive years.
Skiles is facing huge hurdles even before his season with the Magic starts. He needs to find a way to resolve the team's lack of offensive power which saw them in the bottom of the Southeast division for three consecutive seasons. The Magic finished this season with a 25-57 record.
When asked about his new team, Skiles pointed out that the biggest weakness of the team is its young and inexperienced players to which he added that it will also be their strength.
