On Tuesday, the Chicago Bulls have finally announced who will take over the team's helm from sacked coach Tom Thibodeau. He was Iowa State University head coach and former NBA player Fred Hoiberg. Reactions and speculations are abuzz and varying with regards to this recent hiring. But the main question was: is Fred Hoiberg the right guy for the Bulls?

To properly answer that question, one has to look at it objectively and assess four key factors that are needed to succeed as a coach in the NBA: skills, knowledge and experience, relationship with management and players, and fan acceptance. Let's try and break down the checklist.

In terms of coaching skills, Hoiberg is acknowledged by Bulls' GM Gar Forman to be "a winning coach, a natural leader, and a great communicator," as reported in the league's official website. These are practically the basic skills needed to coach successfully at this level.

Assessment: 6/10. The technical skills are not proven yet, but the leadership and people skills are superb, which would be a nice foundation.

In terms of knowledge and experience, the 42-year-old is a winning coach at Iowa State. Four of his five seasons as head coach are all winning seasons (2012-2015) wherein the Cyclones qualified for the NCAA tournament each time. His team was the conference tournament champion in 2014 and 2015. He had never been a coach or an assistant for any NBA team, although he had played in the league for a decade. As for knowledge, there is no question how high Hoiberg's basketball IQ is as proven by his own series of books called "Fred Hoiberg's Open Practice Series."

Assessment: 7/10. Steve Kerr and David Blatt are first-time coaches as well, and now they're in the Finals. Hoiberg's knowledge of the game can be at par with both.

In terms of the relationship with the management and players, Hoiberg is the apple of the eyes of Forman and Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, according to Bleacher Report's Adam Wells. Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, and Jimmy Butler reportedly all welcome him with open arms. Hoiberg also publicly acknowledged that he loved the Bulls' roster and the versatility that it provides.

Assessment: 8/10. Can't give it a perfect 10 yet until the team is seen on-court, but 8 is already pretty high.

In terms of fan acceptance, the reactions are mixed according to an article by Tommy Birch at The Des Moines Register. Some fans say that they don't know who Fred Hoiberg is, while others think that he will not be as great as Thibodeau. Others, however, say that "The Mayor" can be whatever he wants to be with the Bulls and that he is also a "good" coach with a great college track record.

Assessment: 5/10. The fans are still at a divide until they experience the winning, or losing, in the coming season.

With all factors considered, every answer seems to be somewhat pointing to the affirmative. But everyone will just have to wait and see.
