Bruce Jenner, a former Olympic gold-medal winner, classily went out of the closet Monday with a Vanity Fair cover.
However, despite praises and a warm welcome from most of the world with her transformation, Caitlyn, 65, is getting flak since ESPN chose her over Mount St. Joseph basketball player Lauren and Iraq veteran Noah Galloway for the ESPY award, according to Fox News.
Lauren, 19 has fought brain cancer even as she played on a university's basketball team. She died April 10 after the long battle with the disease.
On Twitter, several fans vented put their anger and frustration over the decision.
Lauren Hill deserves the ESPY award for courage, and it should not even be a discussion. What an absolute embarrassment. #LaurenHillESPY

Galloway, on the other hand, lost most of his arm and leg as a soldier, but these days he still continues competing in extreme sports, even almost winning in this season's "Dancing With the Stars."
As with Hill's fans, Galloway's fans were also seen irate on Twitter, with hundreds tweeting their dismay.
On Wednesday, ESPN debunked rumors via a statement that they chose Caitlyn over Hill or Galloway, reported CNN.
The sports network said that they are "proud" of honoring Jenner with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award and that "many people are discussed every year" before the award is given. They added that they have "no such thing as a runner-up" in their decision-making.
ESPN's statement came the day after a photo became viral claiming that Jenner was chosen over Army veteran Noah Galloway for the award. The ESPYs will be held July 15 in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Ms. Jenner already has several Public Speaking gigs lined up in an effort to share her transformation story.
Since her debut on Vanity Fair Monday, she already has a contract with Creative Arts Agency for the construction of her public platform in the spread of her story, according to MTV. She has also revealed her the trailer for her docu-series "I Am Cait" and even broke President Barack Obama's Twitter record of one million followers in hours. In her case, she got the million in under four hours.
