Statham plays James Bond's alter ego in Paul Fieg's "Spy," always groping for what to do and a slightly British secret agent

Despite the funny role in "Spy," the English actor has mentioned during an interview with The Guardian that he isn't ruling out the possibility of playing the skilled secret agent that is 007, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"Could I do it? Abso-f-king-lutely," Statham said in the interview. "Would I do it? Abso-f-king-lutely. Is Daniel Craig a great Bond? Abso-f-king-lutely."

He noted though that Bond would be different from what the world has become accustomed to if he plays him. He said in the interview that he would "make a decent Bond," but also that "it'd be very, very different if I did it."

This year, Daniel Craig's contract with the Bond franchise will be ending, meaning Hollywood will once again guess who will be the best man to take the coveted role.

Rumors are already circulating in the British press, but there remains no prospect for the candidate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
