Playing in the Finals is something every NBA player dreams to experience. But obviously, not everyone is going to have a chance. There are so many legendary players who have already retired without being able to take part in the highest stage of basketball competition in the world. Names such as George Gervin, Bernard King, Alex English, Dave Bing, "Pistol" Pete Maravich, David Thompson, Dominique Wilkins, Tim Hardaway, Chris Webber, and Steve Nash are some that would come to mind as superstars who did not get the chance to play for the title. As for the Cavs' Kevin Love, he clearly does not want to join the list of the NBA's All-Star underachievers.

Reportedly, Love told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne during Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals between his own Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors that he had "never wanted to be in a game more than that one."
Love is currently sidelined after a freak entanglement with Boston Celtics' Kelly Olynyk caused his shoulder to be dislocated during the fourth game of their first-round series. Cleveland swept Boston, but the 6-foot-10 power forward was permanently thrown out of the postseason because of the injury.
Right now, Love can only watch and experience the Finals from the bench, something that he said felt good and bad both at the same time. CBS Sports' Ananth Pandian reported that he admitted having so much fun watching from the sidelines, but he would rather be out there on the floor competing and fighting for the championship, which evoked mixed feelings on his part.
Despite of what happened to their All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, the Cavs management should still be thankful about being in the Finals because it is what cemented Love's decision to stay in Cleveland next season and try to help bring the team back in this exact same position next year.
Only that time, he wants to be healthy and available to compete.
There were a lot of speculations about Love wanting to jump out of Cleveland and join the Lakers in Hollywood or the Celtics in Beantown. But as per Bleacher Report's Adam Wells, Game 1 of this year's Finals may have completely extinguished all those rumors to the ground.
