2010 Moto3 runner-up Johann Zarco was ready to start the race in pole position, but a bad start hampered him to fall back in 5th place in the opening lap of the race.

With so many riders speeding up to get a good position in the first few laps, the Ajo Motorsport rider got some troubles in some corners of the Catalunya Circuit, but the Frenchman rode aggressively smooth, allowing him to overtake some of the riders.

When it was down to six laps, Zarco already secured his place on the podium but he kept on increasing his pace as he trailed the Reigning Moto2 Champion Tito Rabat, who was fighting with Alex Rins in the final lap.

As he pulled a tight move under the two Spaniards in the last lap, a gutsy move that allowed him to lead the race, and left Tito to duel it out for 2nd place with Rins. The Frenchman secured his 2nd win in Moto2 with the excitement that can't be bought.

He became the 2nd rider who achieved two wins this season along with his compatriots Jonas Folger. Both of his victories came from pole position. He was also the first French rider since Olivier Jacque to finish six successive podiums, although, Jacque accumulated nine podiums in a row going to his 2000 (250cc) Championship winning season.

After the race, the Ajo Motorsport rider celebrated his winning moment the only way he knows by doing a back-flip like what he did in his first win in Argentina. With 40 points ahead of Tito Rabat in the Championship, the Frenchman sitting pretty well at the top of the Moto2 Championship Standings.

Starting 2nd on the grid, Folger never recovered well being forced wide in the opening corner fracas, but still finished seventh place.

However, coming from an arm pump surgery, his colleague Alex Rins set a new race lap record in Catalunya, while the mistakes of Estrella Galicia MRC VDS rider Tito Rabat in the last laps caused him the second place, which equaled his highest finish this season.
