When the lights went out, both Team Suzuki Ecstar riders Aleix Espargaro & Maverick Vinales, who went 1 and 2 on the grid, had fell back behind the leading riders in the championship.

The man of the moment, Lorenzo got a blistering start once more but the Repsol Honda star fought hard in the early stages of the race to keep him on his sight. While Jorge is having a consistent pace, Marc was trying hard to kept up with him.

When it comes down to turn 10 on the third lap, the reigning MotoGp Champion committed a mistake to end up on the gravel, ending his chances to fight for the victory. Another mishap put Marquez 69 points behind the Championship leader Valentino Rossi with 69 points in total.

With five laps to go, "The Doctor" tried to push to his limit in an attempt to catch Jorge until the end of the race. He even closed the gap to just +0.885 seconds behind the race leader, but the Spaniard held off the Italian to the line, grabbing his fourth successive race victory this season.

During the post-race news conference, Lorenzo said he just stayed focused and rode carefully to avoid committing any mistakes as the temperature reached almost 50 degrees - by far the highest this weekend.

Also, riding in a lonely 3rd place was last year Catalunya Pole sitter Dani Pedrosa, which was 19 seconds behind Lorenzo. Ducati Corse's Andrea Iannone followed in 4th place after a grueling fight with Monster Yamaha Tech3 Bradley Smith. Vinales made sure Team Suzuki Ecstar got sort of consolation as he recovered from disastrous start to finish 6th place.

Dealing with a scorching hot track temperature, many riders decided to retreat on the race due to said circumstance, including pole sitter Aleix Espargaro, Nicky Hayden, Marco Melandri, Andrea Dovizioso, Pol Espargaro, Cal Crutchlow and Yonny Hernandez.
